Scholarship

West of the Mark, in partnership with Dollars for Scholars, has created a "West of the Mark Music Scholarship" for Sweet Home Schools. It's a total grass roots effort and with the help of local Business' sponsoring the event, the band has generated (6) $1000 scholarships since 2016! We have performed this event to over 750 people in two concerts. This is no ordinary club date. This is a "performance concert!" It features professional sound reinforcement by the best sound production company in the area. Late stage lighting is done by a professional engineer/ set designer and has a nationally recognized visual display engineer for screens on each side of the stage. We use two camera operators to give a true concert experience. The songs chosen for each concert, are performance oriented and not so much the line-dance, beer drinking songs designed for good timing clubs and bars. These songs are true country with heavy emotions, lyric-laced, story told country songs. We have movers and shakers as well, naturally. The show is set in a beautiful auditorium setting where the audience can breathe, and really listen to the efforts on stage. No distractions. We focus on the vocal blend and delivery with authentic instrumentation. Brought into this special event are guest musicians. Included are piano/organ, fiddle, and a pedal still pleura as well to complete the ensemble allowing us to dive into songs that resonate "country!" It's an ALL AGES event at Sweet Home Middle School annually. Stay tuned for additional satellite events as we look to grow this event throughout the year.
